I cut my tongue licking my absentee ballot today (fuck you, America), then tried to watch the SPN episode, very sad and increasingly frustrated every time a download failed, a file was missing, or a stream froze (fuck you, Internet). Also, pickled beets are super hard to eat when you have a cut on your tongue? Then I found a pixelated-but-quite-functional stream with weirdly large Italian subtitles and mismatched audio/video and watched that, while interrupted every seven minutes by Russian babushkas searching for tea cups and serving bowls in my bedroom (which is also the tea cups and serving bowls room).
But more on the actual episode when I've gotten back into the habit of SPN, and am not so goddamn grouchy!! I'm about to head out to a ballet performance (lolll right after SPN, I know, but I really, really, really wanted it. See: Ardent Search outlined above) and will probably be messing with my tongue the entire time.

After the ballet, I think tonight is feeling like a The Fast and the Furious sort of night, because apparently I am just not ready for Supernatural yet. Just not, not ready. At least if F&F is interrupted on behalf of a tea cup it doesn't feel like someone's speaking over the Word of God.

Also, hi, I friended you because I read some of your fics and damn, but I think you might have the most accurate Dean-voice I've read in fic, I am slightly scared because it's really uncanny.

on 2012-10-06 06:17 am (UTC)I did indeed see 8x01 last night! Once the shitty way, and once the excellent way, instead of F&F. I wasn't immediately impressed, but upon the second viewing, there's a lot that the episode did really well, and there's a LOT to draw out from it, both in terms of us as a fandom, and for the actual writers to work with as well. I wanna see what they do. :)

on 2012-10-06 06:06 am (UTC)I did indeed watch the episode; I wasn't really into it the first time (pre-ballet, in less-than-ideal viewing situations), but I fairly adored it the second time, after I'd had some time to process and could pick up on some of the more delicate nuances. (Which surprisingly do indeed exist, even in the face of some very un-nuanced dialogue/camerawork/etc. lolololol.)
I felt like a Really Understood Amelia, contrary to what a lot of fandom apparently felt, so I'll be sad if my assumptions aren't true in the end. As is true with the rest of all my elaborate Sam-related fantasies. XD

on 2012-10-06 06:12 am (UTC)I wasn't keen on the episode the first time around, but after the second I actually liked it quite a bit--this is similar to my experience with 7x23. There is still one thing I really, really, really require of the SPN production team (and it's actuality not quality/care, ahaha, but COURAGE) but I was filled with cerebral ideas and thinky-thoughts, if not rapt, visceral attention from the get-go.
